Review of The Cable Guy (1996) by Brandon W — 30 Mar 2015
When I first watched The Cable Guy, I honestly thought it was the darkest comedy movie that I have ever seen, but after watching a lot of dark comedy films, I was wrong. I still think that it's still hilarious, but a lot of people thought it was going to ruin Ben Stiller and Jim Carrey's careers which I kind if understand because either it was something that Jim Carrey hasn't done this dark before, or that his character is grating to lots of people.
He's still hilarious in this however in my opinion while getting some laughs from Matthew Broderick and Jack Black. It's darkly funny, and the pop culture references are really funny. The plot is crazy in an enjoyable way, and the jokes are so intentionally over the top that it's downright hilarious.
There's some parts that doesn't work, but The Cable Guy is a really funny movie that's underrated to me.
