Review of The Bye Bye Man (2017) by Movie M — 26 Aug 2017
"The Bye Bye Man" was a pretty weak attempt at a psychological thriller/horror, that had a lot of pretty disappointing suspense scenes, and a few too many cliches. The overall premise for the movie was pretty interesting, basically a boogey-man that terrorizes anyone that thinks about, or says its name.
However, everything this movie does takes that premise and brings it down. I legitimately found this more of a parody movie than a serious horror film, as a lot of the acting, and the incredibly terrible CGI in some scenes were just comically bad.
With almost every horror scene in this movie, I felt like I had already seen it before, and with the exception of some of the scenes where The Bye Bye Man uses his deception to trick people, it seemed as though it was a carbon copy of other horror movies.
All in all, there was nothing that stood out about "The Bye Bye Man", except for debatable acting, and a hilariously bad CGI and animation. "The Bye Bye Man" is terrible.
