Review of The Bye Bye Man (2017) by Dolores H — 17 Oct 2017
As the title would suggest, The Bye Bye Man is about a group of teenagers who are terrorised by the aforementioned creature whose name seems to bring disaster to anyone who knows it. This film starts with a bit of a bang and an interesting premise but quickly deteriorates into a boring B movie style horror with a predictable plot and poor acting.
The Bye Bye Man isn't the least bit scary and feels somewhat like a pale imitation of Final Destination as the characters are doomed to be killed off and the only question is how and when. Unfortunately the performances are pretty poor throughout, with Cressida Bonas giving a particularly poor performance as Sasha.
The CGI and special effects are also quite poor with a weird dog like creature that looks unbelievably fake and a Bye Bye Man that looks like he's trick or treating. Overall, a disappointment and one of the least enjoyable horror films to come out this year.
