Review of The Bye Bye Man (2017) by Robby K — 03 Apr 2017
"The Bye Bye Man" (in spite of the laughable name), had loads of potential on premise alone. And though it trends towards giving us a surprisingly decent horror film à la "It Follows".
It winds up disappointing approximately 15 minutes into the film, and it goes straight downhill from there. Cressida Bonas is just awful at times in terms of her line delivery and screen presence in general, the writing feels like it was done by a middle aged guy trying (and failing) to relate to a younger crowd, and the story as a whole leaves more questions than answers.
"Don't Think It, Don't Say It" went from a suspenseful tagline, to an ironic description of the legacy this very poor film will have.
