Review of The Butler (2013) by Mike F — 30 Mar 2014
In my humble opinion The Butler deserved Best Picture. It isn't that 12 Years a Slave wasn't worthy of that honor, because it was. It is that this movie was one step above the greatness that 12 Years brought us.
Forest Whitaker is a master in the role he portrays and Oprah Winfrey reminds us that she is a stellar actress. I'm not a fan of Oprah at all, but she complemented Whitaker so well that one forgets that she reigned as a talk show host for years.
This movie demonstrates the best in film making where history is told and we are exposed to it. I highly recommend everyone see this really great film.
