Review of The Butler (2013) by Hannah D — 30 Apr 2014

I was expecting a bit more from this film. For some reason it failed to hold my attention. The premise is a very noble one: telling the story of how black people gradually began to find their place in society and be accepted, but I felt that as they tried to cram in as much history as possible, it came at the expense of the characters, who I didn't manage to connect with on an emotional level.
