Review of The Butler (2013) by Bruce F — 27 Oct 2014
I went into this movie expecting a fairly decent and somewhat original movie... I do not. Instead I get what can only describe as "Spike Lee's Forrest Gump." I say this because that is all this movie is about.
A guy who has to overcome some disability in an unforgiving country at a time of racism, meeting several Presidents, his wife dies and he bonds with his son... I wanted to enjoy this but its unoriginal, predictable, and it also (in my mind) more political than enjoyable.
The only saving grace were the presidential cameos...minus the Obama reference.
