Review of The Business of Being Born (2008) by Natalie G — 04 Jun 2009
I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and have given little to no thought whatsoever to when I give birth. I am usually wary of documentaries, as they are generally very one-sided; that's just the nature of a documentary. However, this documentary really opened my eyes and made me feel more informed in some of my preliminary decisions regarding the future birth of my child.
I am not saying I am ready to jump first into homebirthing as I still think I'd feel safer in a hospital setting just in case something does happen to go wrong, but it did give me a lot of insight in what I should be aware of and what I want my body to go through in the birthing process.
Plus, the natural homebirth scenes really got my pregnancy hormones going, and the tears definitely did come! Beautiful to watch, just breathtaking.
