Review of The Burning Plain (2008) by Patrick K — 15 Dec 2013
This is a pretty good movie that was surprised in a way. Its a 2 tiered story from the point of view of Mariana/Sylvia portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron. Mariana (Lawrence) is the younger side of the characters story who is forced to grow up raising her younger siblings whilst her mum is off having an affair.
Sylvia (Theron) the older part of the story is a woman who runs a restaurant but contemplating the past events. The 2 stories then become clear towards the end of the film as they line up parallel to each other.
Fantastic performances from all and quite an intriguing story which makes you not care that the film is fairly slow.
