Review of The 'Burbs (1989) by Carl P — 18 Aug 2008
One of Tom Hanks' string of 80's comedies (The Money Pit, Bachelor Party, Big...), here is in his funniest guise as a neighbour who is paranoid (helped in no small way by his fellow neighbours) about a new arrival in his cul de sac.
An interesting mix of humour, particulary slapstick, and mystery. Like a lot of 80's films it has dated a bit, but with hilarious performances from Tom Hanks and Bruce Dern (Playing Hanks' slightly deranged ex-army neighbour), in particular, along with the unusual genre, it is still a very entertaining movie to watch.
