Review of The 'Burbs (1989) by Maxime C — 11 May 2009
An enjoyable dark comedy about the strange goings on in surburbia. tom hanks dose his usual everyman turn which is occasionally funny but a bit bland. thankfully he has 3 other characters too bounce off, notably corey felding's nosey teenager.
it looks great, quirky and like like a b movie (a usual trait of Dante's). unfortunately it's not got that many funny lines and looses pace at some points. one thing you can see is the genesis for Dante's criminally underrated tv series "eerie Indiana".
the burbs is a fun and offbeat family comedy that works for the majority of time, but dose seem too missing something.
