Review of The 'Burbs (1989) by Mike H — 16 Apr 2010
I don't know how you can't have fun with this one- it's goofy, it has great cartoon characters and its pacing is perfect. Tom Hanks proves early and often that he didn't turn into a great stage presence, he was born one.
Rick Ducommun, though, steals the show over and over again as the neighbor who overstays his welcome over and over again. It's no work of art, but it also never pretends to be- instead it entertains on a high level and keeps its energy until the closing credits.
