Review of The 'Burbs (1989) by Lisa Michelle A — 31 Dec 2009

This story takes place in a typical American neighborhood, when some new neighbors come to live in the house next to Ray Peterson. These new people are really strange as nobody has ever seen them, their house is a real mess, and during the night you can hear weird noises from their basement. The only thing they know is their name: Klopek. When Walter (an old man of the neighborhood) suddenly disappears, everyone starts to suspect the Klopeks...So Ray teams up with Ricky and Art to investigate, and what enuses next is one hilarious adventure you don't wanna miss! They befriend the Klopeks to get to know them better and then start breaking into their house when they aren't home and digging up their backyard. This film is quite creepy and a little scary but it's also really funny and one pretty much everyone could enjoy. And they were right, you shouldn't trust the Klopeks...

The best lines (in no particular order):

Carol: "You were up at the crack of dawn watching a dog poop.".

Ray: "I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I-I've never seen that.".

Ray: "I'm going to go do something productive. I'm gonna go watch television.".

MarK: "There go the God damn brownies!".

Ricky: "God I love this street." (last lines).

My Actor/Actress review:

Tom Hanks - hilarious as Ray!

Corey Feldman - loved him as Ricky!

Rick Ducommum - pretty funny as Art, in certain scenes.

Courtney Gains - really creepy looking as Hans Klopek.
