Review of The Buddy Holly Story (1978) by Daryl . — 10 Jan 2009
A tragic American story and a show of what has to be Busey's best performance of his life make this somewhat of a classic. I knew the story of Buddy Holly by the time I was about 5 years old and saw this movie not long after.
Going back to it now, I didn't remember much about the movie at all, and it makes me think the movie was extremely short and cuts off very abruptly, but that strangely echoes Holly's life itself when I really think about it.
I was preparing myself to get depressed by an ending where everyone who knew him reacts to his death, but then it just cuts off, and while that was a bit relieving, it still seems very abrupt.
