Review of The Bucket List (2007) by Jonathan C — 31 Dec 2011
GREAT idea for a film, but a huge disappointment. It just seems rushed. It feels like certain shots are missing, and certain key scenes are missing as well. I would of liked to see Ed and Carter escape from the hospital, but it just cut from their conversation, right to skydiving scene.
The scene in which Ed meets his daughter was also disappointing. Usually having too much dialogue and too much unneeded scenes is a bad thing, but I think this film was aware of that and tried it's best to stay within those boundaries.
Usually with movies like this, you can AT LEAST appreciate the action, and have a great time watching the actors doing fun stuff, but this movie ALSO lacked entertainment. During some of the bucket list scenes, Nicholson said some funny stuff, and because of that, he makes the whole movie.
It just seems like the film didn't want to be melodramatic in the action parts, but they went WAY overboard in terms of dumbing some of the scenes down. All in all, it's just not good. They only good thing is the jokes and the deep conversations.
I also wanted to mentioned, their are continuity errors here and there, and when Carter is dying, you can see the bald cap very well.
