Review of The Brown Bunny (2003) by Simon D — 24 Sep 2011
I know the Gallo likes the intense close ups in his directing style but I was starting to think that he is a bit in love with his own looks for the first hour of this. I think that is because it didn't seem like there was much story going on.
I stuck with it and it was worth it in the end. The story unfolds in about 3 minutes after a quite shocking scene with Chloe Sevigny which I thought was fairly unnecessary (I won't be able to watch this with my parents now).
Despite the decent ending, you can't argue that the film is slow and for the most part you haven't got a clue what is going on. This makes it a pretty hard film to watch and lost it a star.
