Review of The Brothers Solomon (2007) by Evan D — 30 Mar 2009
Not quite as fun or bawdy as director Bob Odenkirk's previous film, "Let's Go to Prison", The Brothers Solomon falls largely on the flat side. The Wills (Arnett and Forte) both excel at playing oddball loser types, but the joke of just HOW awkward they are wears a bit thin after a while.
Arnett's script is a bit awkward and clunky at times. Chi McBride, after turning in a hilarious performance in "Prison" is kind of wasted here without having anything particularly fun or interesting to do.
The film has its moments but is largely a disappointment, particularly after how unexpectedly riotous Odenkirk's previous film was. On that note, the funniest scene in this film, by far, is the one with Odenkirk in it playing the adoption agency rep.
