Review of The Brothers McMullen (1995) by Michael K — 14 Feb 2009
I can't think of any specific reason I like this movie so much, except to say that it's mood suits me. I love how Ed Burns manages to show the parallel romantic relationships and issues of the three brothers in detail without sacrificing attention for anyone; he doles out enough character exposition for everyone.
But, as the above note on the movie relates, Ed Burn's directing style allows the movie to retain a lighter, at times even near-comical feel despite the underlying seriousness of the 3 brothers' commitment issues.
