By no means should anyone judge a Terry Gilliam film on what is no more than a fairytale romp. As you'd expect from Gilliam the plot is a mess, but whats more is that the characters are undeveloped as the scenes and the storyline never really holds interest.

A more considered outlook on the direction on nearly every aspect of the film and the surrealism would make for an abstract look at this tired genre. Sadly though the bland plot means such creativity is no more than an obstruction to what is ultimately a film to watch with your 12 year old son on a Sunday morning.
