Review of The Brothers Grimm (2005) by Jon W — 20 Mar 2009
Like any other film that plays on age-old and/or popular literary references (a nod to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), this film is great if you've actually read or at least know the story behind all the references they make.
I did so obviously, I enjoyed this film. Don't know how great you'd find it if you didn't have the literary knowledge to pick up on the various tributes to the Grimms' classic tales. The "climactic" scenes near the end were somewhat disorganized and while I understand that there's some sort of biblical significance to moving trees, I was never a fan of them.
But it's entertaining, I think. Could have been better but it also could have been a lot worse.
