Review of The Brothers Grimm (2005) by Thomas M — 09 Jan 2010
The visuals are really neat and the movie is intermittently enjoyable. Even if it does loes its mind towards the end. Matt Damon and Heath Ledger are just too over the top to be likeable. And they end up taking me out of the movie.
Though they have nothing on Peter Stormare who just ruins every scene he is in. This movie could have used a little clearing up as it makes very little sense at times and the frantic pace grows wearisome.
Still as with "Sleepy Hollow" the look of the movie is entrancibly dark and alluring. But in the end it is a mess. As watchable as it is. This time I hear it was the studio mucking the picture up and not Terry Gilliams usual filmmaking style.
