Review of The Brothers Grimm (2005) by Ryan H — 07 Feb 2010

Underrated and misunderstood. It seems like Gilliam used to make movies just for entertainment and laughs until he made Brazil, and this was his way of getting back to that. Perhaps that's why he didn't write it at all? The story was interesting, following the Brothers Grimm through their adventures, with fun little moments where we can see where Jacob got some story ideas.

There were some moments that were annoying to me, but I can see how it was just working with the idea of the story itself being a fairytale. The interactions between Matt Damon and Heath Ledger were absolutely hilarious.

The visuals were excellent, but that was no surprise coming from Gilliam. The only complaint I have is just the writing feels sloppy in some parts, but overall The Brothers Grimm is simply an entertaining and very fun movie.
