Gilliam's tale of the notorious Brothers Grimm and their fight against a wicked witch is another overambitious tale told by Gilliam that seems to collapse under the director's overwhelming imagination.

Though the references to the actual Grimm stories are charming, the pace is unnecessarily slow and the story unnecessarily complicated. It's also hard to tell what kind of an audience Gilliam is trying to attract.
