Review of The Brothers Bloom (2008) by Charis R — 12 Aug 2010
Lighthearted storytelling that keeps you guessing, not out of suspense but out of fascination of all the characters.
Brody, Ruffalo and Weisz were so fun to watch together and Kikuchi's "Bang Bang" was so fun to watch.
Part of what kept my fascination was how the film doesn't quite resolve for you what time period the story is supposed to be set in. At one point you're assuming it's somewhere in the 1930, 40s or so, then you see Penelope driving/crashing a Lamborghini Gallardo.
While those instances may be taken as confusing and disjointed, I'm taking it as part of the off-beat world of the story. And I thoroughly enjoyed it!
