Review of The Brothers Bloom (2008) by The E — 05 Oct 2010
Maybe a little too proud of its own cleverness, but it IS a clever mash-up of the heist picture, the romantic comedy, the confidence game, and a story about story-telling. I'm not sure the leads have the comedy chops to bring the wacky, but I'm not sure "more wacky" wouldn't have thrown off the balance which presently and confoundingly tips toward action and switcheroo.
Gorgeous settings and loads of little details make the whole thing work as a collection of mostly nice parts, even if the destination is a little mystifying.
