Review of The Brood (1979) by Erin K — 12 Aug 2008
This was my first foray into Cronenberg's horror movies and I have to say I was not let down. I'm a huge fan of his most recent two films: A History of Violence and Eastern Promises and I think The Brood might just have surpassed those two.
Psychology tense and bloody disgusting, The Brood weaves a tail about a stressed husband, severally mentally ill mother, and the poor child caught in between. From start to finish you're not quite sure what is going to happen and when the big reveal happens you'll be the most shocked a movie can make you.
All around superior movie!
