Review of The Broken Circle Breakdown (2012) by Tor M — 24 Apr 2014
Oscar nominated Belgian flick. It's about a bluegrass family living pretty American-like. The guy is a band-guy and the girl is a tatoo artist and sings in the same band.
They have a little girl together, fighting cancer and that's pretty much the plot.
It shifts from past til present quite delecatly and there are mood swings here. Mostly it's an drama filled flick, quite sad stuff.
The colours are lovely and the pace is amazing. Great acting is making it even more watchable.
The biggest sub-plot is the differences between the leads. One being the kind atheist, the other a religious realist. It's a nice spice, making the movie whole and a lot better. There are some smaller plotholes I won't go into here that I don't like but they aren't catastrophical - this is still a little gem.
8 out of 10 sticky birds.
