Review of The Broadway Melody (1929) by Ice R — 07 Aug 2009
This was cute enough. The acting was a little cheesy and the plot line a bit unrealistic, but you sort of have to excuse them--this was one of the first pictures to use sound, and everyone was only just starting to realize that film actors actually had to know how to act.
Everyone mentions how Anita Page steals the show, but I was really impressed by Bessie Love's performance as Hank. I'll always take the quick witted, business minded girl over the ditzy blonde, I guess.
