Review of The Bridges of Madison County (1995) by David A — 24 Nov 2009
(from The Watermark 07/12/95).
Meryl Streep is flawless; Clint Eastwood isn?t. But his direction makes up for his miscasting of himself. I haven?t read the entire book (please - when I read trash, at least it?s good trash), but from what I have read, the film puts the novel to shame. It?s a beautifully romantic love story that moves slowly so you can savor every luscious moment.
POST-REVIEW 11/24/2009: I still love this film and I own it on DVD. It is one of my all-time favorites. Richard LaGravenese did a heckuva job adapting the story.
