Review of The Bridges of Madison County (1995) by Becker S — 17 Jul 2008
This is quite simply a stunning movie wich will move the hardest of hearts. the script, the casting, the pace, the acting and the general warmth of the movie make it a modern classic. clint eastwood burys his tough guy image with a performance of subtlety that stirs the heart.
meryl streep conjures up yet another phenomenal performance as francesca johnson the lonely iowa housewife. without any explosions, gunfights, sex or car chases hollywood reminds us that occasionally it can tell us a simple story and leave us breathless.
the only mystery here is why this classic didnt sweep the board at the oscars, best film, best director, best actor and best actress should have been awarded and its anyones guess why that never happened.
for anyone needing to inject a little romance back into there lives then look no further, just get the tissues ready.
