Review of The Bridges of Madison County (1995) by Peter P — 05 Oct 2010
This is one of the greatest love stories on film, sadly it is about an affair, brief though it may be, and has needless nudity. Now, saying that, you can't but be amazed by the on screen chemistry of Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep.
There is just something about the two of them that makes you want it to work out, for there be a happy ending, even though you know it is impossible. Eastwood for his part is just amazing, he can play a gun slinging outlaw in one movie and then a sensitive photojournalist in another, all the while being completely believable.
Again, he does an amazing job in his direction also, using everything from pace to location to set the mood and feeling of the movie and tell a great love story that should hold up well over time.
