Review of The Bridges of Madison County (1995) by J Brigham H — 12 Jan 2013
Italian housewife Francesca residing in Madison County sends her family off to a state fair and shortly after encounters a rugged and charming photographer. Soon, she will have to make a decision to stay or leave with the stranger.
Dark elements are added by the fact that the story is being read by her son and daughter on their dead mother's diary. Eastwood and Streep portray well this story of a mature love affair, but the theme and execution of the piece reduces its audience considerably.
While the acting is admirable, and the screenplay maturely based around long conversations, the film is sloppy, slow and almost intolerably full of cheese.
