"The Bridges of Madison County" features a rather bleak atmosphere, but the friendship/romance is very strong, the acting is genuine, & has one of the most sad goodbyes in cinema history.
Clint Eastwood's directing is still superb & Meryl Streep (who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in this film; didn't win (should've won)) is a magnificent actress; together, they make this film adaptation work splendidly!
