Review of The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954) by Mark S — 31 Aug 2007
One of the first movies to depict the unvarnished and brutal nature of warfare, while still admiring the mettle of bold men who are called to fight. A faithful adaptation of James Michener's novella.
We know that our hero is doomed, yet we watch and hope that he will pull through. The cinematography is excellent, in capturing both the majesty of flight and the grittiness of combat.
