Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Jon G — 09 Apr 2008
The great British master David Lean jumps across the pond and makes a genuine action masterpiece. Alec Guinness and William Holden lead an all star cast about a squad of British POW's who, under Japanese captivity, are forced to build a bridge while a secret troop of Allies are assigned to destroy it.
Here Alec Guinness is magnetic as the colonel of reluctantly agrees to, then becomes obsessed with overseeing the bridge's construction. First-rate.
