David Lean is one of the great directors in the history of cinema, and this is his first masterpiece. Bridge is one of the finest war films ever made and features one of the great oscar winning performaces by sir Alec Guiness.
Lean rightfully won his first directing oscar for this one and it started a run of epics that lasted throughout the sixties.
