Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Andy A — 08 Oct 2009
True, the movie has come under fire occasionally for being a woefully inadequate portrayal of the Burma-Siam Railway, otherwise colorfully known as the "Railway of Death", movie lovers shouldn't have too much a problem.
It's really truly rare to find something that can encompass so many heavy questions about the morality, honor and blindness of war into one engrossing yet erudite package and doll it up the way that Lean has.
"Arabia" aside, this is probably as close as you can get to grand-scale visual poetry.
