Great performances, and a compelling story! But alas, there are some faults. Was really hoping for subtitles when the Japanese soldiers were speaking, it definitely could have added more depth and kept the audience's interest.
There are a few slow parts, such as trekking through the jungle and watching soldiers march....a bit unnecessary (ahh, but a great whistling tune nonetheless!). There was one thing I didn't like about the ending, felt a little ridiculous, if you've seen it, you prolly know what I mean.
But maybe that's how it happens in the book, I dunno. Anyways, it's over 50 years old, really good film, not perfect. See it.
