Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Jerem M — 23 Dec 2013
A remarkable achievement in filmmaking. One of the most epic war movies ever made, and it was made in 1956 on a meager budget if $3 million (which was probably a fortune at the time). Alec Guinness is brilliant as the British corporal misguidedly leading his men to work for a fascist Japanese prison camp.
Every moralistic dilemma that's been rehashed in war movies since was started here. Flawless screenplay and direction. A must-see for any cinephile.
