Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Andy I — 07 Apr 2009
The first time I watched this movie, I thought "Well, there's three hours of my life I'm never going to get back." And then I watched it again and enjoyed it very much. I can understand why Alec Guinness got best actor for this film.
He did a phenomenal job. But besides the amazing acting, I found the main conflicts during the course of the film to be very intriguing. First, the power of wills between Col. Saito and Col. Nicholson.
The clash of two completely different cultures and their respective concepts of honor and conduct during war. And then later, the same clash between the American Commander Shears and the British commando Maj.
Warden. Very fascinating. And very well done.
