Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Ben G — 21 Dec 2009
The greatest POW film ever made. David Lean direction is breathtakingly audacious, Alec Guinness and William Holden turn in pitch-perfect performances, and the screenplay has the majestic sweep of great literature.
Favourite Moment: When Col. Nicholson (Alec Guinness) goes on his "Closer to the end than the beginning" speech while standing on his newly constructed bridge.
