Alec Guinness gives a brilliant performance as a career officer who struggles for identity and purpose in a POW camp. When fellow POW William Holden escapes, the story turns into a fairly generic war adventure.
But upon his return at the end, the movie reaches a devastating climax. Definitely worth watching.
