Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Adrian B — 28 Nov 2010
To start this comment off, I have to say my godfather hates this film. I personally do not remotely hate the film, but it is not the best film on war that I have seen. It is a decent and very interesting war epic spanning around 160 minutes.
The performances are very good by Holden and Guinness, the scenery is beautiful, and the story of building the railroad through Thailand is actually very interesting to me because I am a train fanatic.
I believe this film and 12 Angry Men are the two best films from that year, and I can see why this film took home the Best Picture Oscar over the other, although I do like 12 Angry Men better. It is not that bad of a film as my godfather says.
The Thai ladies by the way are beautiful.
