Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Muhammad K — 09 Aug 2012
Deceptive. What begins as a celebration of jingoistic virtues and action/war movie cliches turns (slowly but relentlessly) into its deconstruction. Brilliant, ultimately downbeat but also - thanks to undeniable skills of David Lean and stellar cast - suprisingly entertaining.
