Yes, The Breakfast Club is overrated, the teen cast, despite their good looks, is unashamedly shallow in character, and the movie itself is as relentlessly naive as the teens who watched. Though I will admit, the characters do show off their emotions like competent, maybe even good actors.
The movie itself has a good ending, and that famous song by Simple Minds has that special feel to it. Sadly, presentation is all that this typical 80's teen movie is good for.
