It's difficult to pin-point exactly what it is about John Hughes' 'The Breakfast Club' that makes it the epitome of teen movies. It is, perhaps, that Hughes' great respect for the demographic shines through in his writing as well as in the manner he directs the young cast.
Excellent performances throughout (though a tad melodramatic towards the end) maintain the integrity of the work, which continues to resonate with adolescents (and every one who has ever been one) almost thirty years on.
'The Breakfast Club' is Hughes and cast at their very best.
