Once you dissolve the stereotypes which segregate youths, aren't all teenagers as vulnerable and alienated as one another? John Hughes understands kids better than most, and here creates a touching study of how youngsters are divided by the search for identity and conformity.
Yes it is dated and at times cringe-worthy, but its also smart, funny and endearing.
