Review of The Break-Up (2006) by Ana X — 23 Sep 2013
Judging by the way this movie was advertised I expected to watch another "two people break up, see other people and have a few not-so-funny confrontations with each-other only to eventually realize they're meant to be together, wedding bells, the end" - and I was surprised with how superior it was to that. The depressing and fading relationship of two main characters seemed more genuine than any good relationship of two characters in any other romantic comedy I've ever seen - their arguments seemed rational, their points of view understandable and relatable, their actions human and not out of character for the sake of happy ending.
I highly recommend it to all people who dislike Hollywood romantic movies and think that they portray romance unrealistically. Maybe it won't be the most entertaining movie you've ever seen and maybe you won't enjoy it and find it as life-like as I did, but at least you won't feel like you've just seen another version of every other romantic comedy there ever was.
