Review of The Break-Up (2006) by Brent N — 19 Jun 2010
A surprisingly mature film. From their first encounter to their final interaction, we track Vaughn and Aniston's unexpected growth from score-keeping and bickering to mutual respect and well-wishes. The movie seems to mature as well. It moves from the humorous to the sentimental, and in the end allows both to become the people they needed the other to be. He began to respect her; she began to respect herself.
For them, breaking up made them more likely to succeed in a relationship, whether with each other or not.
