Review of The Brave One (2007) by John A — 16 Feb 2009
A retelling of the classic "vigilante" story. An extremely disappointing beginning leads to a much more interesting plot with developed characters not usually seen in movies like this. However the movie generally seems to have no goal and is unsatisfying throughout the middle.
The budget is clear and the special effects are amazing and the strange camera angles mesh well with Jodie Foster's well done role of a victim who is going insane. However, this makes it hard to tell what is happening at some points.
The story line is only clear while Erica is coherent. Her entire killing spree seems justified and will be no conflict in the viewer's mind about what Erica is doing.
